I'd rather get rockets... Yeah, I'm a little nervous.
Today at the monthly SOAL (Students of Applied Linguistics) pizza party, I saw a few old friends who just got back from Malaysia, and a trio of new PSU students who all have taught in the PRC. Good info from them.

Update: Somehow missed that I needed to include my passport... mailed that off overnight to the visa service center, and of course, USPS overnight only takes 4 days. Yup... Overnight service needs 96 hours
![]() The refund for the late delivery will only just cover the costs needed to expedite my Visa in time to leave on 12/16 (but not the increased airfare). Presuming no other F***USPS. I'm told that FedEx will be delivering my Visa on 12/14.

I'm safely here... I had quite an adventure, between losing my cell phone at the PDX airport (I think I set it on top of the car, then my mom drove off with it), to having to deal with my overweight bag, and a bicycle, at the Beijing Airport's Customs check, and the upgrade to first class for the Trans-Pacific flight (flight was oversold). I'm still trying to find my way around, and exploring a little every day. Christmas, my boss took me out to dinner. Nice restaurant, and the meal cost us about $14.00 each if I'm not off my mark. It'll be a while before I'd ever be able to go back there as my command of Mandarin is woefully bad, and my reading ability is worse.
