STUDY SUMMARY- RIFT Program Summary Volume 1
#1
Continuing the study of the RIFT program-- Reactor In-Flight Test, to launch a nuclear powered rocket stage with a nuclear rocket engine. This one is from 1961 as well... This study tells a little bit more about the projected missions to test the stage and nuclear engine, as well as weight figures and performance projections in various mission modes.

There's also some discussion about the possible nuclear incidents and "excursions" and various destruct systems to prevent such accidents from occurring.

First, the various RIFT configurations...

Second, nuclear engine schematic...

Third, reactor specifications...

Fourth, performance and specifications...

Fifth, the summary...
