4.5 inch with 98mm build
#1
Anyone built a 4.5 fiberglass airframe with a 98mm motor mount?  I am thinking of doing one. Can you tell me about your experience??

I have not but I'm sure it's possible. Someone must sell centering rings. They'd be some thin centering rings. Otherwise it should be pretty straightforward. Kind of similar to putting a 54mm mount in a 2.6 inch diameter tube which I have done. Personally I would just build a 4 incher and make it minimum diameter unless you were trying to achieve a certain scale.

i have aspiration to fly the O5280 and min diameter would blow the waiver. a 5 inch would be ok but i have already flown a 5 inch intimidator on a O3400. so flying a 4.5 airframe with a O5280 is the ticket and wont blow the waiver. of course it would be traditional dual deploy, 66 inch booster and 30 inch payload. i have thought using 3/16 inch or 1/4 inch CR rather then 1/8.

Ok, that makes sense.

For the centering rings I guess I misspoke regarding them being thin.  I meant the distance between outside and inside diameter is pretty small.
