Stars and Reputation?
#1
Question
I presume that they have something to do with the number and/or quality of the posts that we participate in...

So, what's the max number of stars and highest reputation we can have and how do we improve our scores?

The stars under our name change depending on how many total posts we've made. Greg Young now has passed 50 posts and therefore three stars.
Max is 6 stars like the mods/admins. Maybe only 5 for us pleebs?

As for rep.... no idea what that's for, but I don't think it has a limit.

Reputation is incremented/decremented when someone hits the "Rate" button on a post. (Maybe there's other ways to affect it too.)

Aha! thanks.

Edit: Ok, so I can see how increment would work but not decrement, there's no 'thumbs down' that I can see (shame!)

I have a warning level under my reputation. Does that mean I'm high risk already LOL. It wasn't there before.

Sure there is. Dropdown for positive, neutral, or negative. Though what kind of person would go to the trouble of leaving neutral ratings, I don't know. (I guess it's so if you want to leave a private comment about a post without affecting reputation. Seems very silly.)

Ah, I see there's also a "rate" link on the member profile pages, so you can up/downvote someone's reputation that way too.

If you're into that.

I never actually clicked it, had just assumed the thumbs up was just that, a thumbs up.
I just tried it.
Yep, I'm an idiot.

Fortunately there's just "positive", "neutral", and "negative"; no "idiot".  Wink
